Butt implant surgery can add volume and augment the buttocks using silicone implants. It has predictable results as the implant can be precisely positioned. Once inserted, the implants create a more projected appearance and fuller volume.

A butt implant procedure can also be combined with a butt lift to remove excess skin and create a toned and firm butt. Many patients also opt for a BBL together with butt implants to reshape the body while adding volume. A BBL can also fill the lower areas of the butt under the implant. It can smooth the overall appearance of the implants. Butt implants are most suitable for patients who maintain a stable weight and do not suffer from excess skin.

Butt implants are made of cohesive silicone gel. This is a more resistant material than the implants used in a breast augmentation procedure. It can withstand high pressure when the patient sits, walks or runs. The implants come in oval and circular shapes. Surgeons will create a customizable form depending on the patient's physique and end goals.  This way they can avoid any harsh contours and the possibility of the result appearing too artificial. A round implant will create more outwards projection, while an oval implant is best suited for patients with a flat or sagging bottom.

A butt implant surgery requires general anesthetic and can take 1.5 to 3 hours. The surgeon will first make an incision between the butt cheeks to hide the scars. The positioning of the implant will also depend on the patient's end goal. Patients can achieve more natural results by placing the implant below the gluteus maximus muscle. This method is much riskier and could result in nerve damage. The implant can also be inserted subcutaneously. This is a much safer option, but it creates a more projected and voluminous result that may not look as natural. An alternative is placing the implant below the fascia of the muscle but on top of the muscle itself. Once the implants are positioned, the incisions are closed up with sutures. Surgeons will insert drains to avoid excess fluid build-up.

Results will be immediate, but patients will experience some swelling. Recovery will take 10-15 days, and patients must wear a compression garment to support the area. Final results will be visible after 5-8 months. Some risks of butt implant surgery are numbness, asymmetry, shifting, blood loss, blood clots and deep vein thrombosis.
