Details

Simpli5 is an invisible teeth aligner system that can treat moderate spacing and crowding issues, mainly in the front teeth. The removable aligners are made from clear plastic and custom-built according to each patient's teeth. There are five sets of aligners that must be worn throughout the treatment, and each aligner moves the teeth into position gradually.

Simpli5 treatment is faster than traditional aligners and requires fewer appointments with the dentist. They are removable, discreet, and are usually 20% cheaper than other transparent aligner brands. However, they are only able to treat the front teeth, so they’re not suitable for everyone.

Only patients with misalignment in their front 4-6 teeth would benefit from this conservative option. Patients with more severe crowding issues are not suited for the Simpli5 treatment.

Simpli5 treatment begins with an X-ray examination and impressions and molds of the teeth. These are sent to the lab to build the custom-made aligners set. Once the aligners are ready, the dentist ensures they fit well into the patient's mouth. Patients need to wear each set of aligners for 2-4 weeks before changing to a new tray. They also need to wear the aligners for at least 20 hours a day as the teeth gradually move into proper alignment.

It is common to experience some minor speech issues, tightness in the teeth, and dry mouth at the beginning of wear, but this subsides after a few weeks. Patients need to take out their aligners when eating, drinking, and brushing their teeth to prevent food entrapment and allow proper cleaning. The trays should be washed with unscented antibacterial soap twice a day. Patients also should soak them with a Retainer Brite tablet once a week for a more thorough clean.

The typical Simpli5 treatment period takes between 10-20 weeks, but the length of the therapy depends on the severity of the issue. Once the treatment is completed, patients must wear their retainer every night to maintain the ideal alignment.
