Smilelign is a brand of clear orthodontic aligners that can straighten teeth without traditional braces. The treatment comes with multiple sets of plastic aligners that can be changed every few weeks to reposition the teeth gradually, fill in gaps, and correct bite issues. These clear aligners are a discreet alternative to the usual metal or porcelain aligners and are almost invisible when worn, unlike conventional braces. The aligners are easily removable, making them much more comfortable than braces.

The Smilelign brand sets itself apart from its competitors by providing a test sample. It offers pre-aligners for patients who want to feel them before opting for the actual treatment. Once the patient confirms their treatment, an orthodontist will examine the mouth. They also take pictures and digital impressions to create a treatment plan. The Smilelign laboratory builds a customized series of aligners for every patient using the scans. The orthodontist also shows their patients the 3D simulation of their final results.

Some patients may have to undergo interproximal reduction (IPR).

During this process, dentists file some tooth enamel to make space for the newly repositioned teeth. IPR can reduce the need for extraction.

Patients may feel some tightness when wearing each set of aligners for the first time. The trays gradually loosen as the teeth move into position. Patients need to wear the aligners 20-22 hours a day and only remove them when eating, drinking, and brushing their teeth. Usually, the aligners can be changed every two weeks and replaced with a new set.

Smilelign comes with its own mobile app to remind its patients of their aligner schedule. The app also helps to track the progress of their teeth repositioning. Patients need to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing their teeth thoroughly twice a day and keep their aligners clean.

The Smilelign treatment period can range from 6-24 months, but the average treatment timeline is a year. Once the treatment is completed, patients must wear a retainer every night and replace them every two years.
