A dental smile makeover is a procedure that combines several dental treatments. It can dramatically change and improve the appearance of your mouth and teeth. Every approach is personalized to each patient. They aim to improve the overall functionality and aesthetic of the mouth. Targeted dental issues can include discoloration, a misaligned bite, gap, crooked teeth, or receding gums.

Before the procedures, patients must first undergo a consultation and assessment. Their dentist checks the health of the teeth and gums. They discuss the patient's end goal so that they can plan the best course of action. They will also take several photos to ensure that the result will match the patient's unique characteristics. The dentist chooses the best treatment for the patient based on this initial evaluation.

Smile makeovers can include dental veneers, bonding, tooth implants, or whitening. It can also add tooth lengthening.(Short teeth could make patients look older than they are.)

Dentists look out for the smile line, an imaginary line that follows the curve of the upper teeth from one side to the other. For a better appearance, this line should be proportionate to the bottom lip. Dentists can also improve the texture and characterization of the teeth. This customization can result in a more feminine or masculine appearance on the crowns or veneers.

There are different techniques the dentists perform depending on the treatment plan. Dental professionals can address discolored teeth in a variety of ways. Dentists can perform a teeth whitening procedure or choose veneers bonded on the fronts of the existing teeth. To fix crooked teeth and gaps, your dentist might suggest braces, Invisalign, or veneers. Doctors usually replace missing teeth using dental implants, bridges, or partial dentures. Chipped teeth can be fixed using dental bonding. Excess gum tissues can be re-contoured to show more teeth.

Following the smile makeover, patients need to follow proper oral hygiene habits to maintain their new smile. This includes the use of non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste, flossing, and alcohol-free mouthwash. Patients should also avoid high-sugar foods and drinks that could stain their teeth. While the dental fixtures can last a long time, they will have to be replaced a few years down the road.
