BriteSmile is an in-clinic teeth whitening treatment. It uses a combination of hydrogen peroxide gel and laser to remove any staining and discoloration. Yellowing of the teeth can occur due to aging, consuming certain foods like coffee and tea, and smoking. Over-the-counter whitening treatments take months to show results. BriteSmile can lighten the teeth by seven shades in a single session. The treatment is not recommended for children under  13 or pregnant and lactating women.

Before the BriteSmile treatment, the dentist will perform a regular dental clean. The treatment itself will take about an hour. It requires a total of three applications that take 20 minutes each. Dentists first apply the gel to the teeth before the laser activation. The gel formula avoids damaging the tooth enamel. It also contains specific ingredients that prevent  dehydration. Hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen into the teeth that lighten the stains. The laser speed is increased for the 2nd and 3rd whitening sessions to speed up the process. The treatment is then completed with a 5-minute fluoride application.

Dentists recommend using home whitening systems for an additional six months for maintenance. The teeth are also more prone to staining immediately after the treatment. Patients need to refrain from drinking beverages like coffee, colas, and red wine.

Some patients may experience heightened tooth sensitivity. This should subside in a couple of days. Patients should continue to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily. They also need to visit their dentist for regular cleaning sessions.

BriteSmile also provides an at-home whitening treatment that maintains effectiveness with  added convenience. BriteSmile To Go uses a whitening pen instead of whitening trays that are usually more messy and costly. Once the gel is applied and dries down, the formula will gradually whiten the teeth. This technique only requires two 30-seconds applications every day. Patients will notice results within two weeks with minimal teeth sensitivity.
