ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant uses AI technology to perform follicular unit extraction (FUE). Surgeons harvest follicles from donor sites and transplant them into thinning areas, receding areas, or both. The AI system uses an algorithm to recognize the best donor sites with healthy follicles for a transplant. It can also outline the receding areas on the device. This technology helps determine which spots to transplant the follicles to deliver greater precision with this machine.

Embedding the hair follicles into the thinning area can be performed using the machine's  robotic hands or manually by the surgeon. Once the procedure is complete, the device leaves minimal scarring on the site. The system is approved for men with dark-colored straight hair who suffer from patterned hair loss.

Before the procedure, the device uses 3D technology to create a new, customized  hairline for each patient. This plan can predetermine the number of grafts needed to achieve the final goal. The surgery takes 5-7 hours, and patients will receive a topical anaesthetic to numb the area. The device uses a stereoscopic vision system, robotic arm, and AI to harvest the healthiest follicles. During the implanting process, the device helps to maintain any
existing hairs.

As with most procedures, ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant comes with some risks, such as bleeding, infection, scarring, swelling, and redness. The transplants may fail because the follicles are not successfully embedded into the scalp or extracted from the donor areas. It is also possible that the device may not ensure that the process is complete. It may not be suitable for everyone.
