Chronic exposure to the sun and environmental toxins causes the skin to become dull, rough, and wrinkled.  Dermaplaning is also known as epidermal levelling or blading. This non-invasive exfoliating treatment can rejuvenate the skin, resulting in a brighter and glowing complexion. The treatment is similar to shaving. Doctors use a surgical scalpel to remove dead skin and peach fuzz on the surface layer of the skin. Unlike at-home dermaplaning, the professional treatment uses a medical-grade tool instead of a razor. This can reach deeper
into the skin.

The results of this procedure are similar to microdermabrasion and mild chemical peels but usually gentler on the skin. After just one session, skin becomes visibly smoother, brighter, and less wrinkled.  It also makes makeup application much easier.  Skincare products also absorb better immediately after treatment and perform better.

Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types; however, not for patients with active acne. The combination of dermaplaning and other facial treatments yields superior results.

A dermaplaning treatment is a quick and easy process that takes up to an hour and requires no downtime. Before the procedure begins, the doctor will cleanse the skin with alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or a beta-hydroxy acid solution. These acids help to break up any dead skin cells on the face and remove them. The skin must be dry before the procedure begins. The doctor will then use a medical 10-gauge scalpel and position it at a 45-degree angle. They stretch the skin and scrape the tool over the surface. Once the dead skin and hair are removed, the skin will look radiant and glow. The doctor will complete the treatment by applying a moisturizer to hydrate the skin.

Patients can return to their usual activities immediately and opt for a dermaplaning treatment every two weeks if desired. Daily religious sunscreen use and sun protection are needed.
